For the scheme’s softer profile, EPA drew inspiration from the geometries of the lotus flower, thereby giving tropical context to the Bangkok skyline.
Fraser Suites Sukhumvit is a development of 163 luxury serviced apartments, ranging from studios to three bedrooms. It’s nestled in a landscaped garden in Sukhumvit, one of the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
Along with the facades, Frasers Hospitality asked EPA to design all the public spaces including the amenities. The aim was to instill a sense of privacy for the urban dweller, a stylish option for modern city living.
The team worked with geometric arcs inspired by the lotus flower. Consequently, from a distance there is no front or rear to the building, as priority is given to vantage points in all directions.
EPA looked for opportunities to create a sense of space. The arc-shaped balconies are deep (in contrast to other comparable developments), and the garden space is generous, as is the pool.
Most of the apartments have corner living rooms – making them dual aspect – more generous overhangs, and larger balconies with more sliding glass doors. This means the balconies have the added advantage of doubling as functional external spaces. The project was completed in just two years.
In 2011, Fraser Suites Sukhumvit won Thailand’s Leading Service Apartments category in the World Travel Awards. In 2012, the project received Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence.
