At Mumbai Airport, Enter Projects Asia has crafted a visionary network of interconnected rattan pods, seamlessly linked by undulating rattan banquettes. Drawing inspiration from the ethereal forms of clouds, this design transforms the airport experience into a serene and immersive journey. The rattan structures create a flowing "cloudscape" on the terminal floor, inviting travellers to wander through the space while enjoying unobstructed views of the runways and departing planes—evoking the sensation of walking amidst the clouds.
By utilizing rattan, EPA reimagines what is typically a monotonous, standardized airport environment into a unique and memorable experience. The use of this sustainable material provides a compelling alternative to the conventional materials commonly found in other airports, demonstrating how thoughtful design can redefine public spaces. Through this innovative approach, EPA not only enhances the aesthetic and functional qualities of the terminal but also reinforces its commitment to sustainability and creativity in architecture.
