In October 2024, Enter Projects Asia was commissioned by ADR Agency for Maison Cartier, a global icon in luxury goods, to create bespoke installations for an exclusive four-day event at Anantara Layan in Phuket, Thailand, the following month.

The brief required the integration of natural materials to celebrate local artistry and craftsmanship. On a tight timeframe, Enter Projects Asia delivered a series of striking installations, including decorative screens, clusters of freestanding rattan lights, and modifications to the existing lobby entrance. At the heart of the event was the pièce de résistance: a monumental Cartier logo, crafted in fluid, sinuous natural rattan and displayed on the beach as the centerpiece.

Through their Project Rattan initiative, Enter Projects Asia devised innovative solutions, combining traditional and newly developed techniques. "When I received the call, I was thrilled. It was a golden moment to be selected by a brand of this caliber," said Patrick Keane, the creative lead of Enter Projects Asia. However, the task came with challenges. The rattan workers had to meticulously inspect, hand-wash and test each strand of the rattan for material consistency in thickness and color. "We started with one letter, crafting the ‘e,’ then “i” then moved to “r” and “c” then other letters followed, eventually creating a stunning 3D rattan calligraphy,". The Workers followed precise 3D models and templates to achieve the masterpiece.

This project holds deep personal significance for Keane, as he reflected. "I moved to Phuket with my family just before COVID-19, seeking a fresh start. I walked this very beach during the pandemic, dreaming of a future where plant-based materials could redefine design. To contribute to such a prestigious event here is a truly full-circle moment.”

The series of installations not only captured Cartier’s sophisticated aesthetic but also celebrated local Thai craftsmanship on an international stage. The collaboration demonstrated how sustainable design can harmonize with luxury branding to create timeless works of art.
