Location: Pilbara, WA Purpose: Modular housing Stage: Concept
The Pilbara because of its unique location requires very specific housing criteria. Looking at the highest quality in design, practicality for the area we have arrived at the following solution The house is not in a style been distilled from something in a major city or urban area. It is contemporary, open with modern Touches The house is uniquely Australian. Part of Australian history is building in remote locations, and we have embraced this challenge in our designs.
This Concept has been developed specifically for the Pilbara, the performance has generated the final design outcome. The feature roof shields the house from extreme sun. Its double curve shape is structurally sound. The space under the roof allows hot air to be expelled. The perimeter balcony has always functioned very well in an Australian setting.
The house consists of a series of sandwich panels, allowing the cool air to stay in the house. Working Like a refrigerator, keeping the cool air as long as possible .The sandwich panels are interchangeable in configuration They can be reversed or rotated ,adjusted according to sun orientation and , and the amount of transparencey required. the end user can choose endless possibilities. In essence, with the roof geometries and the panel configuration, no two houses are the same
We have shown a 3 bedroom module. Our panel configuration can expand the program to a 4 bedroom or 5 bedroom with a double storey option.
Site Entry Area,
With the placement of the perimeter deck, around the whole house, The orientation can be changed to maximize views, or rotated to optimize sun angles west facing etc. The panels can be interchanged to accommodate transparency of privacy.
